My name is Louise Bastos, a self-taught artist, muralist, and creative arts facilitator. Born and raised in Brazil, I found my home on the Sunshine Coast over a decade ago.
Immersed in the world of arts throughout my life, I'm thrilled to share my artistic journey. In 2020, I ventured into mindful arts & crafts workshops, guiding numerous individuals to tap into their creativity. As a muralist and resident artist in the Sip N’ Paint industry, I conduct painting classes, inspiring hundreds of guests monthly.
Being a creative soul, I find joy in connecting with people. I believe in exploring creativity holistically, adding not just beauty but also emotion and positive energy to spaces. Whether it's crafting custom paintings inspired by your stories or creating murals that transform and elevate spaces, I am dedicated to bringing artistic expression to life.
I look forward to meeting you and celebrating creativity together.
When I first moved to Australia, I found myself in various jobs, putting immense stress on both my body and mind as I navigated life in a new country.
As the years unfolded, I realised that living on autopilot wasn't conducive to my well-being. I felt disconnected from my heart, was physically depleted, overweight, and trapped in survival mode. A turning point came with chronic back pain, a powerful signal to embark on a journey of self-discovery. In 2015, a transformative 10-day meditation retreat marked a significant shift in my consciousness, offering a fresh perspective on life.
In 2018, I graduated as Yoga teacher, explored Reiki, and engaged in women’s circles and ceremonies. The call for change resonated once more when I became pregnant, leading me to leave a stable corporate job and dive into the world of Macrame. Crafting pieces and teaching workshops brought me a lot of joy, rekindling a passion for arts and crafts I couldn't pursue in my youth due to society's pressure to find a "normal job".
Recognising the healing power of art, I'm on the verge of completing a Diploma in Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy & Counseling.
Today, my focus lies in Custom Art and Murals, where mindfulness and intention blend into my creative process.
When I embarked on my creative journey, the first modality that I started with was macramé. Macramé opened so many doors for me; I started making small items, and a year later, I was already crafting very large macramé statement pieces. However, macramé is a highly structured technique. It requires a lot of math, measurements, and repetition to get the pieces right. I was already a very well-organised person with a methodical brain, so I felt I didn’t need more logical energy; I was creating more structure and rigidity in my life.
Then I was gifted a bag full of acrylic paints. I used to paint when I was younger but never took classes or learned proper techniques. I bought some brushes and a canvas and decided to create my first painting after a long time (maybe 6 years?). From the very first brush stroke, I fell in love with painting again. The sensation, the unknown, the freedom—everything felt really good and resonated with what I needed. However, as a perfectionist, I was already trying to master every single detail and create realistic paintings. I was painting under immense pressure that I was creating on my own self. My paintings were never “good enough,” and I was never fully satisfied.
Soon after, I started exploring different painting styles and found impressionism. I was creating gestures more than details. The forms and colours were still there, but I was also leaving room for imagination to play. Working with impressionism allowed me to open up to new possibilities and opportunities. It gave me creative freedom and allowed me to enjoy creating again.
